Rocky Point is known by the locals as Puerto Penasco and is a beautiful Mexico resort with comfortable beachfront homes, new condos and modern Mexico hotels. A short 4 hour drive from Phoenix & Tucson, only 677 miles from San Diego California. Rocky Point is on the Sea of Cortez in the Baja Peninsula.

Tourism is the major industry in Puerto Peñasco. Accommodations are incredible. Most of the lodgings are vacation rentals, such as beach front homes and condos, that are rented on a nightly basis. The result is a phenomenal value and lots of bang for the buck when staying in one of these Seaside properties. Puerto Peñasco is in a free zone; no visa or passport is required until June 2009, just a driver's license and birth certificate. Peñasco has a large English-speaking community so getting around without speaking Spanish is never a problem.
Puerto Peñasco has beautiful public beaches. The community has sandy beaches in most areas but also has some very unique, rocky shorelines around the Old Port (also known as the Malecón ) and Whale Hill. The best swimming is from May through October. Boating, sunbathing, and water sports are the popular activities.
